Q) Don’t we also remember the babies at the March for Life and other events?
A) We certainly do remember the babies on the anniversary of the Supreme Court’s rulings that opened the abortion floodgates, but the March for Life is more of a political activity. It focuses on lobbying members of Congress for a change in the law. While we certainly support Congressional action defending the personhood of preborn babies, American Life League’s Pro-Life Memorial Day is a day where we simply stop and reflect on the senseless destruction of 51 million human beings.
Q) We already have a pro-life memorial in our community. Why do we need this?
A) This is not about building monuments or duplicating efforts. It’s great that you remember the preborn in your city. But this is a national tragedy, and American Life League’s Pro-Life Memorial Day is a call to bring all of these local efforts into a united nationwide remembrance. Go ahead and plan gatherings for this day at the local Cemetery of the Innocents, or at the local Knights of Columbus memorial. The uniting aspect brings all of these projects together – along with the entire nation of pro-life people, whether they be vocal activists or silent supporters of the fight to end abortion.
Q) Why a Pro-Life Memorial Day T-shirt?
A) We hope there’s a pro-life event in every town in the country on American Life League’s Pro-Life Memorial Day. Wouldn’t it be great to see everyone dressed alike, wearing a profound pro-life message? And even if you can’t attend such an event, you can bring your own determined pro-life witness – a one-person Pro-life Memorial Day “event” – wherever you go.
Q) What do we do after Pro-life Memorial Day is over?
A) One goal is to make the first Monday in October a permanent day of remembrance for those killed by abortion. We must keep up that effort to see this day established as an official national commemoration. We're doing this because a day of remembrance for the slaughtered innocent is long overdue. It's also the right thing to do.
Q) How can I go to find out more about abortion?
A) American Life Leagues web site, www.ALL.org, is a great site for comprehensive information on abortion and everything related to the culture of death and how to defeat it. ALL's project site, www.RockForLife.org, is a great place for younger people and those young at heart to get involved and hear great pro-life musicians.
